Steps to reproduce
Touch app icon to open it.
Current result
White screen and app closing.
Expected result
Open the app normally.
It seems that the app does not crash if there is not a logged in account. The crash does happen at the moment of SMS auth code input by the user, during the account log in or creation.
Otherwise, if there was an alredy logged in account, after the update to v8.8/8.8.1, the app does crash at every app opening attempt.
Unfortunately, this issue can’t be fixed on Telegram’s side, as the latest versions of the app require iOS 11+. In order to continue adding new features, Telegram had to move to Apple’s updated developer tools – which no longer support 32-bit devices. The team has requested Apple to roll back the latest update for iOS 9.3 users, but this will only be possible if and when Apple decides to fulfill the request.
Hey there. Same behavior on my iPad 2, also with (the latest iOS for this old iPad) 9.3.5. And this since Telegram for iPad version 8.8.1 to 8.8.3. After showing a white screen it crashes, even without a loged in account on it (after delete Telegram completely and installed it completely new). Thanks for help!
We are aware. Team has been informed about the issue, working on a solution.

Thank you for your work!!! Since version 8.9 (today), on iOS 9.3.5 Telegram starts again and I could configure it. But unfortunately, unfortunately: the App crashes, as soon as I call up a chat... It is much better, than in version 8.8.3 but unfortunately still unusable at the moment.

Update: also version 8.9.1 still doesn't work. Same probs like in version 8.9 The App lauches, all chats will be shown, but a "click" on one chat brings Telegram to crash. The settings-section and my account-details are shown and the app can be configured. But no content of chats will be shown...

It's version 9 now, nothing changed, doesn't seem like they will introduce a fix.

Yes, also version 9 doesn't run under iOS 9.3.5... Same behavior like telegram-versions down to 8.3: Telegram-app is starteble, all chats are viewable in the chat-list, but by clicking on a chat, Telegram is crashing... Is there any chance of hope for iOS 9 users???
