Issue
The native Telegram for macOS client continuously uses approximately 3–4% CPU while completely idle. Energy Impact stays around 4–5, and App Nap remains disabled.
The CPU usage does not decrease when Telegram is hidden, when all windows are closed with Command-W, or when no chats, media, downloads, or calls are active.
Steps to reproduce
Launch Telegram for macOS and log in.Enable Power Saving Mode and disable animations, autoplay, animated stickers/emoji, interface effects, and blur.Leave the application idle for several minutes.Hide Telegram or close all windows.Check CPU usage in Activity Monitor.
Actual result
Telegram continuously uses 3–4% CPU and does not enter App Nap.
Expected result
Idle CPU usage should remain close to 0%, except for brief activity when receiving messages.
Troubleshooting performed
Restarted and reinstalled TelegramRestarted macOS and WindowServerCleared the cacheDisabled all animations and visual effectsClosed or hidden all windows
None of these steps changed the CPU usage.
The cross-platform Telegram Desktop client works normally on the same Mac and with the same account, using nearly 0% CPU while idle.
An Activity Monitor process sample is attached. It shows recurring main-thread activity involving Core Animation, CALayer, setNeedsDisplay, and animation transactions, suggesting that the native client continuously redraws UI layers while idle.
Steps to reproduce
