Open any chat or channel containing a video with subtitles/captions.
Start playing the video in portrait mode (vertical orientation) and verify that subtitles are visible at the bottom.
Rotate the device to landscape mode (horizontal orientation) to watch the video in full screen.
Current result
When the screen is rotated to landscape mode, the video scaling becomes too large, causing the subtitles to be cut off or entirely pushed off the screen.
Expected result
The video should scale properly in landscape mode without cutting off the bottom area, ensuring that subtitles remain fully visible. Alternatively, a zoom/aspect-ratio toggle should be available to scale down the video when necessary.
Workaround
Do a slight swipe up gesture while in landscape mode to scale the video correctly.
Temporary fix/Workaround: If you do a slight swipe up gesture while in landscape mode, the video scales correctly. It seems the swipe gesture forces a layout update/ recalculation, which resets the aggressive cropping state. Might be a good clue for fixing the orientation transition logic.
``` Same issue here. When I rotate my phone to landscape mode to watch a video, the caption/subtitle gets cut off at the bottom and I can't see it at all. The video automatically goes into Zoom/Fill mode instead of Fit mode.
To get the caption back, I have to minimize the app and reopen it, which temporarily forces it back to Fit mode. This is frustrating because I have to do this every single time.
Previously, auto-rotate worked perfectly and the video would stay in Fit mode automatically. This started happening recently, possibly after a recent update. Please fix this scaling issue in the next update. Thank you!
Telegram is already updated to the latest version. My phone's display and zoom settings are set to Auto. However, when I watch videos in landscape mode, the subtitles at the bottom are partially cut off. Only part of the text is visible, so I cannot read the full subtitles.
Bullshit! There are countless ways they could prevent that. They wouldn't need to fuck up their own built-in player to do it. This is a bug. The result of some messed-up update. Though it seems they really couldn't care less about fixing it.
