Sending image without compression is broken currently in Android app, possibly also in iOS app.
Currently when to send image as unpacked, then in Telegram Android app (possibly also iOS app) does not open image sent without packing. Also saving image is not possible in Android app. This is very serious issue as currently basically sending images without compression is broken as recipient cannot open, download it. But we need send images without compression on all platforms - also in Android, iOS - to keep original quality. E.g. would like to send WebP is nowadays format as it replaces JPG, PNG, GIF. Hopefully can you fix it.
Currently under pop-up menu in Android are: Reply, Add to Favourites, Forward, Pin, Delete. Please add there the choice "Save as..." Same applies also for compressed images - currently Telegram will open and allows then save into Gallery. But we don't need to save always into gallery, we would like to just save the image into phone as image file - as it is.
Looks like even current bug reporting form does not support nowadays WebP format... Would suggest to improve Telegram to support nowadays WebP format.
The image I'm sending, is in PNG 45,2 KiB but same image in WebP is only 3,7 KiB - so you can see, that using nowadays image format WebP can dramatically reduce storage need for images, which are sent quite often in Telegram.
This image Android-webp-uncompressed-image-save-as-missing.png shows, what is visible in Android when to tap on image sent without compression - no "Save as...." choice available. Same issue applies also to compressed image, which is only possible to save into gallery but not directly own specified folder. Please add also for compressed image the choice "Save As..." Thank you!

webp format in telegram is used for stickers. When you send a webp file it will be shown as a sticker (you can see in your menu "⭐ add to favorites" it only appears for stickers), with limited options (you can't open or save a sticker). This is a longstanding situation, you can choose another format for your image, or convert it losslessly. I doubt waiting for telegram to change this behaviour since they have not changed it for many years
