May be even better assign different bio's/profile photos for different groups - at least one set is for my contacts and another for public groups/channels.
These settings should be applied also to bugs.telegram.org and other services, so users could hide their avatar/name. Would be great if would be possible to choose a different bio for "public", so only contacts could see real name, picture and info!
Profiles are traditionally public. This hails from the old usage of the finger file on UNIX. If you don't want it seen, don't put it in your profile.
Just someone you don't know
This could be realy useful to hide the weirdness of some ppl , like I have literally set my name to just someone u don't know and then the profile pic makes JK which in turn means just kidding and my bio literally says a vampire in search of new drinks and now my parents are at my back to change it , I don't even wanna start explaining them why I have done this , this right here is a live example of a problem that one could face also it would be better if we ADD A NEW FEATURE ABOUT WHAT ARE NAMES ARE VISIBLE TO WHOM I'd very much like my name to be mine in my parents' telegram and I'd like the weird username that I have put to be displayed on my friends' telegram , this could be a life saver for many weird ass people like myself and I have literally explained this to just make u see a point that why would some ppl would really like to conceal some things . May peace be with u and the new feature be with all of us .

I disagree. The bio should be public. If it was only for contacts, So why? I think the contacts should know you, So why only them?
Bio is usfull when someone don't know you to know a basic info about you.
I think it's not useful. what you want to tell to your contacts? tell them privately, or write your message in your profile picture, then set it to only contacts. bio should be a place for those who saw your profile for the first time, or to see about your job etc...
i really want that feature in which the bio is seen only by the person that we approve.
If someone is stalking or harassing you, they might be able to use information in your bio to further their abuse of you.
I don't get why people are arguing about the point of this feature.
You don't want it. Don't use it and use your existing bio as it is.
People that want to use it, we get more granular privacy customizability on Telegram. That's all
"Bio" technically is a heads-up message about you for people who doesn't know you. It's not an "about" or "current status" or "what's in your mind" message that your friends wanna keep checking. Write only public stuff. If you think you're writing something that needs a privacy settings, just don't write it.
