Telegram needs 2 layers protection when deleting chats on both ends. This is something I am seriously concerned about when it comes to deleting chats on both ends. I get why it is useful. But think about your chat with your SO. It is the last thing you wanna delete accidentally and sometimes I even worry if my cat sits on the laptop, there is a chance it might get deleted. Maybe, Telegram should allow users to make deleting certain chats more protected. For example, deleting a particular chat may require the second step of authentication (password), instead of just two taps. This way, the trusted two ends of a chat may agree to set this lock on their chats so it cannot get deleted so "effortlessly". It will also protect these locked chats from someone malicious who happened to have access to the open account (user forgot to logout) from deleting stuff from the account. Maybe something to consider in the future. If you read this, let me know what you think.
Yes. They have to come up with something better. The current functioning would work for a single post in a chat but NOT FOR ALL THE MESSAGES. Having an end-to-end confirmation is necessary.

This is definitely needed!
The whole concept of being able to delete messages on both ends is quite debatable and while I agree that being able to remove messages within 24h (you were drunk or whatever) could be useful, being albe to remove older messages or worst, entire conversation is just plain dumb.
My SO just yesterday wanted to do something (possibly remove single message) and (as he's not very technically inclined) bam - our entire conversation is gone. 5 effin years of chats, conversation, photos and videos... I'm relly disinclined to use telegram anymore due to this retarded "feature"....
Yeah... I was meaning to do a backup of the chats from telegram but I was waiting for better internet connection because that would be quite big ammount of data to download but it happened already so that's that.
And the fact that we've been apart for a couple of months now doesn't help at all...

Accidental deletions happen. Abusive deletion can happen as well.
Well, this would only protect against accidental deletion and I believe nothing is stopping Telegram from throwing in this additional OPTIONAL feature, so that it would make me enter my 2nd factor password before deleting my important chats.

I have accidentally deleted my Saved Messages chat, without realizing what I am doing. The chat is extremely useful as a pastebin for all sorts of things. Loosing huge amount of valuable data is crushing, and what's more crushing is that it happened to me for the third time! Second layer of protection is definitely a must.
