There are several popular channels that are being spoofed through direct messaging. The direct messages do not show the user name when you look at the profile, they only show the display name. This is happening more frequently. Very popular accounts with 1 million followers or hundreds of thousands of followers are having people report that they are receiving direct messages from them when the person running the account did not send a direct message.
Many times these fake direct messages ask the question “how long have you been following my channel?”
People can be very easily scammed if they can’t confirm who is actually sending them a message.
We want to trust who we are talking to. Your current system is not providing this service. This is our way of bringing this problem to your attention. Help us stop the scammers, so we can be safe on your site. Thank-you and Godspeed.
No, they are not visible in DMs, only display names are. Regardless, this request is more about solving the problem of spoof accounts scamming people. I don't care how they do it as long as they recognize the problem to be solved and come up with a solution for it.

The problem to be solved here is that accounts are being spoofed. Telegram doesn't require a "user name" - only a display name. Scammers are taking advantage of this and spoofing popular accounts.

This happened to me as I was communicating with a friend about crypto another (fake) friend DM’d me and was “helping” me open a crypto wallet wanting me to send screenshots etc. this must be done to protect telegram users from fraud.
