I have also found it strange that the updates stopped in April. Even now with this update there was no blog post showing details. Before, there was even a special illustration to represent each update.
Something is happening. I'm worried that the platform will start to decline.
Yes, this is a temporary solution until a forced update, but Telegram appears to be much less evil in those than WhatsApp, which just randomly fucking forces those updates every few months or so. Also, Telegram is open source, so there is a lot more hope for compatibility and availability of older / alternative versions.
b) It's not hidden if I can see it and the desktop client is even nagging me with pop-ups.
Just give us a toggle somewhere in the settings to disable it. Telegram is competing with whatsapp, sure, but can it really win if it turns into yet another annoying whatsapp clone?
