I have an active, fully paid Telegram Premium subscription, valid until April 2027. However, when I try to edit the caption of an existing photo post in a channel, Telegram incorrectly tells me that the caption is too long and suggests purchasing Premium to increase the character limit.
The original long caption was published successfully while my Premium subscription was active. I am only trying to add a short passage to the existing caption, but Telegram appears to apply the non-Premium character limit and prevents me from saving the changes.
I reported the same issue previously, but received no response. The problem eventually disappeared without any action on my part, but now it has returned.
I am not attaching screenshots because this is a public bug report and I do not want to disclose information about my channel.
Current result
When I edit an existing photo caption and add a small amount of text, Telegram displays a character-limit warning and suggests purchasing Premium, even though I already have an active subscription. I cannot save the edited caption.
Expected result
Telegram should recognize my active Premium subscription and apply the corresponding caption length limit when editing existing posts.
Can you please also collect and share the app logs?
Open Telegram settings.
Scroll to the bottom and long-press "Telegram for Android". Then release and long-press again. A debug menu page will appear. Select "Enable logging". Close the app. Reopen the app. Reproduce the problem and remember the time (when the app is stuck on updating / connecting) Open Telegram settings, scroll to the bottom and select "Send logs".
Thank you for your instructions. However, the problem has disappeared for the time being, as it did on a previous occasion.
As I understand it, enabling logging now would not provide any information about an error that occurred earlier. And since the problem is intermittent, I have no way of reproducing it on demand.
Also, your instructions refer to the app being stuck on "updating" or "connecting", which has nothing to do with the issue I reported. My problem concerns Telegram incorrectly applying the caption length limit despite my active Premium subscription.
Could you please explain how I am supposed to collect useful logs under these circumstances? Is there any way to investigate the error that has already occurred?
Since this bug occurs rarely and unpredictably, I may have to keep logging enabled for weeks or even months before it happens again.
I am concerned about the impact of continuous logging on my device's storage and performance.
Could you please clarify:
1. Does Telegram automatically delete or rotate old log files? 2. Is there a maximum size limit for accumulated logs? 3. How much storage space could continuous logging consume over several months? 4. Is it safe and advisable to leave logging enabled indefinitely?
I would appreciate some clarification before enabling a feature that may need to run for an extended period.
Thank you for your reply. I will try to follow your recommendation.
However, I must point out that, despite our exchange, I have received no practical assistance with the problem I reported. The issue remains unresolved, and I am being asked to undertake an indefinite period of technical monitoring without any clear prospect of a solution.
I appreciate your responses, but I cannot say that this support experience has been helpful or satisfactory.
As mentioned in the previous messages, more details are required to investigate the issue. If you’re not able to reproduce the issue, it’s hard to understand its cause. As soon as logs will be available, it will be possible to check the cause.
Telegram Premium bug has returned — active subscription not recognized
The same bug has returned. I have an active Telegram Premium subscription, paid through April 23, 2027, but Telegram once again tells me that I need Premium when I try to edit an already published channel post.
This time I attempted an absolutely trivial correction in a photo caption: changing “six pines” to “Six Pines” — capitalization only, with no increase in the number of characters.
Telegram refused to save the edit and displayed the Premium requirement again.
The problem is not the correction itself. The problem is that Telegram is demanding a Premium subscription from someone who already has one.
I previously reported this bug. It temporarily disappeared, but has now returned.
Please investigate why my active Premium subscription is not being correctly recognized when editing published photo captions. I should not have to repeatedly report the same malfunction, especially in a service I am paying for.

Close the app. Reopen the app. Wait until the issue occurs again. Try to remember the time it happens. Then Open Telegram settings, go back to the debug menu and select "Send logs". You can upload them to some cloud service and provide a sharing link
