Scrolling in chats feels slow and choppy while dragging with a finger, even on an iPhone with a ProMotion display. Inertia scrolling, which occurs after releasing the finger, remains smooth and appears to run at the full refresh rate.
The issue occurs only in chats, not in menus such as Settings or the chats list. Screen recordings do not reliably capture the problem because they are limited to 60 FPS.
No battery-saving features are enabled in either Telegram or iOS.
Steps to reproduce
Open any chat, ideally on an iPhone with a ProMotion display.
Scroll up and down by dragging a finger across the screen.
Observe the scrolling performance while the finger is still touching the screen.
Release the finger to trigger inertia scrolling.
Compare the scrolling smoothness before and after releasing the finger.
Current result
Scrolling while dragging feels slow and choppy, as if the frame rate drops by approximately half. After releasing the finger, inertia scrolling is smooth and appears to run at the full frame rate.
The issue is limited to chats and does not occur in menus such as Settings or the chats list.
Expected result
Scrolling should remain smooth at the display's full refresh rate while dragging and during inertia scrolling.
