Round video message recording stops when switching from the front camera to the rear camera on OnePlus 15 with experimental Camera2 settings enabled.
This is a regression introduced in a recent Telegram update. Camera switching previously worked at maximum quality and 60 FPS on this device. Recording now stops when switching cameras, even at 30 FPS.
The logs indicate that the Camera2 capture session configuration fails during the camera switch, followed by an encoder frame-rate fallback error. Telegram then enters the ERROR state and terminates the recording.
Steps to reproduce
Start recording a round video message.
Switch to the rear camera while recording, a couple of times.
Current result
Recording stops when switching from the front camera to the rear camera. The Camera session configuration fails, followed by an encoder frame-rate fallback error, causing recording to enter the ERROR state.

Expected result
Switching from the front camera to the rear camera during round video message recording should not terminate the recording. Camera switching should continue to work at the supported quality and frame-rate settings, as it did in previous versions.
I’m experiencing the same issue on my Samsung Galaxy S23 FE (Android) with Telegram 13.0.1. When I tap the camera-switch button to switch to the rear camera while recording a video message, the recording stops and gets canceled. This started immediately after updating Telegram. Please fix this issue
Hi! I'm experiencing the same issue on my brand-new Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra running Android 16.
I bought this phone yesterday, October 10, 2026, and noticed a reproducible bug with Telegram's round video messages.
Steps to reproduce:
Completely reinstall Telegram. Record the very first round video message after reinstalling. The front camera works perfectly. Finish the first recording. Try recording another round video message. The front camera no longer works. Switching from the rear camera to the front camera causes the recording to fail.
Important details:
The ONLY thing that temporarily fixes the issue is completely reinstalling Telegram. After reinstalling, the front camera works for the FIRST round video recording only. Every subsequent attempt fails. Changing the Camera2 API / experimental camera settings does NOT fix the issue. Force-stopping Telegram and restarting the phone do NOT fix the issue. The front camera works perfectly in the Samsung Camera app and when recording regular videos through Telegram's attachment menu. This problem affects only Telegram's round video messages.
Error captured in the logs:
CameraAccessException: CAMERA_ERROR (3)
Camera 1: Error configuring streams: Function not implemented (-38)
RoundVideo state: RECORDING -> ERROR
I have also captured logs showing both the successful first recording and the failed second recording.
This issue is consistently reproducible after every reinstall. Please investigate. Thank you!
I have the same issue on Samsung Galaxy S21 plus. Telegram is installed from Google Play and updated to the latest version. Video messages always open with the rear camera, and tapping the camera switch button cancels the recording. The front camera works normally in the Samsung Camera app. Restarting the phone and clearing Telegram cache did not help. Please fix this issue.
IMPORTANT! you hold down Telegram version, open these dev settings, scroll down and turn on "experimental features". here, you'll have round video. TURN OFF CAMERA2 RECORDER and see if it helps
