Allow 2FA/Cloud Password Reset Using Linked Payment Card
Is your feature request related to a problem?
Yes. I forgot my Telegram 2FA (cloud password) and I am now completely locked out of my account. I previously used a payment card on this account for Telegram Premium (or other paid services), but I have no active recovery email set and no other recovery options available. There is currently no self-service way to regain access even though I have clear proof of ownership through my payment history.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add a secure recovery option in the 2FA password reset flow that lets users verify account ownership using the payment card(s) previously linked to the Telegram account.
For example:
Show the last 4 digits of previously used cardsAllow the user to confirm card details + expiration date, orPerform a small authorization check (like a $0–$1 temporary charge that is immediately refunded)
Once verified, let the user reset or set a new 2FA/cloud password immediately.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Waiting the standard 7-day period (if it applies)Contacting Telegram support manuallyTrying to recover via any linked email (not set in my case)
These options are either too slow, not available, or unreliable for many users.
Additional context
This would be especially useful for paying users (Telegram Premium, in-app purchases, etc.) who already have a strong, verifiable link to the account. It improves account recovery without weakening security and prevents permanent loss of accounts that have real payment history attached.
