Make voice-message autoplay chronological by default on Android and Windows
Telegram currently autoplays voice messages in a confusing order by default, at least on the Android app and the Windows app. Other platforms were not checked.
When several voice messages are sent in a row, I expect playback to continue in normal conversation order: from the older message to the newer message, top to bottom in the chat. This matches how conversations are read and how a sequence of voice messages is usually meant to be listened to.
Instead, the default behavior appears to play in the opposite direction. For example, if I tap the most recent voice message, Telegram starts autoplaying older previous voice messages. This does not make sense in a conversation, because I usually either want to listen to the newest voice message only, or I want to listen to a sequence from first to last.
I found that the playback order can be changed from the expanded audio player using the “Reverse order” option, and the setting seems to persist. However, this control is hidden and not discoverable. Many users may think the app is broken or that autoplay cannot be changed.
Suggested improvements:
Make chronological playback the default for voice messages in chats: older → newer, top → bottom.
In other words, make the current “Reverse order” behavior the default, because it better matches normal conversation flow.
If the user taps the latest voice message and there are no newer voice messages after it, playback should stop instead of continuing backwards through old messages.
Make the playback-order control easier to find, for example in the mini-player, voice-message UI, chat context menu, or Settings.
Add an option such as “Stop after current voice message” or “Disable voice-message autoplay”, because currently stopping autoplay requires tapping a small close button at the top of the conversation/player.
This would make voice-message playback match normal reading/listening order in conversations and would avoid accidentally playing many older voice messages when the user only wanted to listen to the newest one
Hi. For me the default order is *reverse-chronological*, not chronological: playback goes from the newest voice message to older previous ones.
In a chat with several voice messages sent one after another, *I expect* autoplay to follow the conversation order: *oldest → newest*, top to bottom in the chat.
However, by default, if I play the newest/latest voice message, Telegram continues autoplaying older voice messages above it. Also, if I want to listen from the first/oldest voice message to the last/newest one, I have to either play each message manually or *explicitly enable “Reverse order”* in the expanded player.
*After enabling “Reverse order”*, playback becomes chronological for me: *oldest → newest*. The setting seems to persist.
So the issue is that the *default order appears to be newest → oldest*, and the option named *“Reverse order” has to be enabled to get the expected chronological order.*
Actually the issue is because it starts to play the playlist of audiofiles. If you only hear voice clips then the order is "chronological" but if there are audio files shared then what happens is that Telegram decide for no reason to start playing the playlist by it's own. Is beyond annoying.
