Currently, when I enter a message such as "That was a fun evening :D" and press enter to send the message, the characters - :D - are transformed into a dress. This is a shortcut for the emojis, I get that, but considering the ammount of messages that end in similar emojis (:P is turned to a paint brush) it gets frustrating.
Can this be changed?
Probably the easy fix would be to have an option to disable auto emoji on enter. A more complex one would be to identify these common emojis and replace them accordingly.
This could be fixed by having an option change the key to confirm the emoji to something other than Enter, e.g. so that hitting Tab would confirm the emoji, and Enter would send the message without changing the :D
Alternatively, could bring up the emoji picker only after a colon and two letters were entered, since most if not all of those smileys have just one letter, but the named emojis have longer names, and writing another letter is not that bad to do.
