I’ve found a bug in the iOS version of Telegram. When a channel shares a live location, and you try to open the map — the map appears, but no marker is shown (just an empty map).
This only happens when the location is shared on behalf of a channel, not from a personal account.
Steps to Reproduce:
From a channel (not a personal account), send a live location in a message.
Open that message on an iOS device and tap on the map to view the location.
Expected Result:
The map opens and shows a marker with the current location being broadcast.
Actual Result:
The map opens, but no marker is visible — the map appears empty.
Reproduced on:
iPhone 16 Pro (iOS 18.x)
iPhone 13 Pro Max
iPad Air (M1)
All running the latest version of Telegram from the App Store.
On Android and macOS, the same feature works correctly and the marker is visible.
Steps to reproduce
From a channel (not a personal account), send a live location in a message.
Open that message on an iOS device and tap on the map to view the location.
Device info
Telegram iOS 11.12.1 (30902), iPad Air (5th gen), 18.5
I am having the same issue with iphone 12, 13 and 16. All exactly as written by reporting user. I can share my location with friends and channels alike. Issue seems to be IOS related. Users of the channel could view live location when they were on Android. IOS users all just saw the empty map without location marker.
