After Android 16 update, Telegram has not been working properly and keeps loading each chat for more than 30 seconds and the widget turns black and unresponsive every time I open the app and close it.
Also when I receive a message, I get a notification and after checking the message, it's as if I haven't opened that chat at all and I have to close the app and re-open the app.
I can't even upload a video of the issue, which is frustrating
Steps to reproduce
Open chat
Loading
Wait
Send a message
Close chat
Remove the widget
Add the widget again
Device info
Telegram Android 11.12.0 (59979), Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, 16 (36)
I have the same bug (Pixel 6, Android 16). It makes the app unusable if you want to use the widget. However, works instantly if you remove the widget. Result: Telegram, in the practice, does not have a widget now at Android 16. And do have a lot of users annoyed.
I hope they could fix soon.

Same bug for me on Pixel 6, Android 16, but even without the widgets chats are sometimes so slow to load. Firstly I thought it is mobile connection issues after update to android 16, but other apps work well

Have the same issue. Nothing helps. As a work around, I have installed telegram x.

I have the same problem on Pixel 6. I want to note that loading problems are observed only in the presence of a widget. If you remove the widget from the desktop, then all chats begin to load instantly in the application. Feels like a widget launches some kind of data update that conflicts with the application itself.
