After Android 16 update, Telegram has not been working properly and keeps loading each chat for more than 30 seconds and the widget turns black and unresponsive every time I open the app and close it.
Also when I receive a message, I get a notification and after checking the message, it's as if I haven't opened that chat at all and I have to close the app and re-open the app.
I can't even upload a video of the issue, which is frustrating
Steps to reproduce
Open chat
Loading
Wait
Send a message
Close chat
Remove the widget
Add the widget again

I have the same problem on Pixel 6. I want to note that loading problems are observed only in the presence of a widget. If you remove the widget from the desktop, then all chats begin to load instantly in the application. Feels like a widget launches some kind of data update that conflicts with the application itself.
It will be easier let Telegram and use Signal instead 😂 (actually, not so please by the Grok involvement).

Pixel 9 Pro XL - same problem here. Deleting the widget fixes it but I rely heavily on the widget. Hoping for a quick fix...

Definitely facing the same bug. I don't know about the widget, as I don't use it. However, I noticed I can add a widget if I want to.
When I send a message, the chat then loads. Though then sending messages can sometimes take ages (if they get sent at all). Issue happens with both normal and secret chats.

It seems like the issue is mostly fixed on my Pixel 9 Pro after updating to Android 16 QPR1. There were one or two instances where the loaded slowly, but nowhere near as slow as previously. However, the widget itself sometimes takes some time to update to show the latest message and to update the unread count.

I've been dealing with the same issue for a couple of weeks, but I was already on Android 16 before, and Telegram used to work just fine.
Same for me. Had a Google Pixel 7 with Android 16 beta: no problems. Now I have a Google Pixel 10 pro with Android 16 (latest release, no beta): chats are loading

Yes, Ive been using 16 for some time, and am facing many isses, that seemed fine before 16's official release. However, im not having the issues you guys are describing specifically. Are you guys installing telegram from the Play Store? If so, im curious to see what happens if you trash that, and install the apk from telegrams website. Temporary workaround: use telegram web /a or /k @ web.telegram.org/a/@yourname
