There’s a long-standing issue where GIFs sent from local storage autoplay correctly, but the “Add to GIFs” option is missing. This prevents users from saving them to their personal GIF collection, even though they behave like regular Telegram GIFs. This feature has been missing for years and it would really improve the experience.
Steps to reproduce
Download any .gif file from the internet to your phone.
Open any chat (private or group) in Telegram.
Tap the paperclip icon and select the downloaded .gif file from your phone’s storage.
Send "the file" (Otherwise, the sent content won't even appear as a GIF — it will be sent as a static image from one of its frames)
Expected behavior: The GIF should have the “Add to GIFs” option like any other Telegram GIF.
Current result: The GIF plays automatically but can’t be added to saved GIFs.
