In August 2024, the Russian government passed a law requiring every blog, channel, group, etc. with more than 10k subscribers to verify their identity. If one fails to do so, the Russian censorship agency is obliged to block such resources, which may lead to Telegram becoming inaccessible to Russian users once again. I am not aware of such legislation in other countries.
I kindly ask the Telegram developers to consider adding the ability to hide the number of subscribers of a channel/group, as well as the number of views and shares. There may also be an option to reveal only an approximate number of these values.
