When being in a group or channel, I sometimes want to reply to a message, but not publicly to the group. Instead, I want to send a private message. Normally, I open the sender details then (click on the avatar) and then on "send message". but this way, there's no history or reference. If the person doesn't know me, he doesn't know what I'm talking about.
What I want (for Telegram Desktop, but also for the Android app and other implementations) is a function "Reply to sender" or "Reply as direct message" in the context menu of the message, and/or alternatively, when writing a reply and you click on a name, there appears already a dialog box which allows replying in another chat. So, an extra button there would be nice: "Reply as direct message".
If the sender has a username, you can reply in another chat, then write the username in the search box. I agree it's not very convenient

This feature is notably absent. Given Telegram's reputation as the fastest-evolving messaging platform, known for including features that cater to niche user needs, its absence is particularly striking.
