The main problem is information overload and the inability to "throw away" unnecessary information as you read it. Many of us are subscribed to channels with useful content, and would like to save messages that are personally useful to ourselves. We can copy useful posts to Saved messages, into one feed. It is not very convenient if the content is on different topics.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add the ability to hide selected messages in the channel and chat, only for yourself. It is proposed to store metadata on the server - chat or channel id and an array of hidden messages id. On the client, add the "Hide" item and the "Show hidden" option to the context menu, if, for example, you have hidden something by mistake. Something like filtering chats and channels by message id. Of course if you're selected many items, you can hide them all.
Maybe forget the last part? >> "Something like filtering chats and channels by message id. Of course if you're selected many items, you can hide them all."
It seems unrelated to the "hide/show selected messages in channels" feature. Anyway, this is VERY useful.

I would like to add that this behavior should replace "delete message just from myself" function that happens by default when you delete a message from 1:1 chat or normal group.
Having two different types of "delete" is confusing and unintuitive for new users. It is also a potential security risk, as one can delete a message only for themselves by accident, and thereby lose the ability to delete that message from the recipient's end.

i have encountered a really really hard video to watch (war related), and i wanted my small kids not to see it even by mistake on the PC screen when they cross the room behind me (i use Desktop Telegram), but i have no ability to filter, remove, delete, hide or censor the message since it is in a chat, and the chat owner wasn't gracious enough to censor the message themself, so a hide / censor feature can help for parents and office users etc.
