If you send a GIF from the Gboard GIF keyboard, the GIF loop will get cut short, but only for the sender (the recipient will see the original loop duration).
Workaround
If you Forward the GIF to another chat, or if you clear your cache, you will be able to play the sent GIF with the original loop duration.
Steps to reproduce
Open Saved Messages, open Gboard, tap on the GIF option to go to the Gboard GIF keyboard.
Type in this GIF search term, "dog sending hugs"
The first GIF result should be of a dog hugging a cat, with the text, "Sending Hugs".
This particular GIF can display the issue very well. For now, notice the GIF's original duration.
Send that GIF to your Saved Messages chat.
Try to play that sent GIF.
Current result
The GIF gets cut off extremely short, so it doesn't finish the playback duration before it immediately starts looping (the incorrect loop for this GIF is pretty noticeable).
Expected result
The GIF should loop the full duration, rather than get cut short.
Same issue. Started happening in the last several weeks that I noticed. Uninstall and reinstall fixed it for several days before it broke again. May actually get worse over time or simply affect some gif more than others. Appears to possibly be a truncated data stream at a certain number of bytes possibly.
Oh yes I hate it so much. I have a feeling Telegram is getting shittier, as is that stupid hint about X gifs bug being limited. Why the fuck do you have to tell me every time when i post a gif that a new gif was added and an old one deleted , I got it the first time wtf. 🤢🤮🤮🤮
Nekogram X doesn't have this issue since their base is still on 8.7.4, but moving to 8.8.5, all of the forks have this issue. Telegram X seems to work but call quality is absolutely horrendous with choppy and echoey calls.
