End-2-End-Encryption for groups, because others have it and it´s a point
that´s often made to attack Telegram.
Of course you should restrict the groups, like others to 200 - 1,000
members and the file size to 10 or 16 MB, chats aren´t stored longer
than a week on the server and just one device.
That way we won´t hear "But we don´t have E2EE for groups in Telegram." all the time.
Addition: You don´t have to use the same way as Signal or WhatsApp.
If you want to safe resources, you can take one symmetric key for the
group and change it when someone leaves.
The normal MTProto protocol could be used for key exchange, which would save the extra resources that would be used with normal E2EE chats.
There are no perfect solutions: the best compromises are those of matrix and the new MLS protocol being standardized by IETF.
In any case telegram will have to develop a new version of MTProto (v3.0).
The group creator decides, if there is cloud comfort over security focus or not.
Have a look at the Matrix messenger! They did it that way.
"Security by trust" is so 1990s. Today "Zero trust security" ist defacto standard!
And this only can be achieved by e2ee encryption. What if they arrest and even torture Pavel Durov one day?
Look at matrix, signal, threema, zoom.us and even whatsapp have this feature!
Hint: Multi device 1:1 secret chat could also be implemented by using the technology of e2ee groups.
And again: Of course make it optional for the group creator when creating his group!
