There are several popular channels that are being spoofed through direct messaging. The direct messages do not show the user name when you look at the profile, they only show the display name. This is happening more frequently. Very popular accounts with 1 million followers or hundreds of thousands of followers are having people report that they are receiving direct messages from them when the person running the account did not send a direct message.
Many times these fake direct messages ask the question “how long have you been following my channel?”
People can be very easily scammed if they can’t confirm who is actually sending them a message.
we need this 💯💯💯 yes this is great for big channels but it would be nice for small channels as well... no one wants their identity stolen... God bless y'all & see ya around 🙏🤍🙏

I've received 5 of these fraud DM's. C'mon Man, do something to stop these scammers.

I fully support, adding the 'unique' and one of a kind "username" to a FM for verification of the truly intended contact. TELEGRAM must have had this in-mind when a 'username' field was created 💁🏻♀️

I also strongly agree that this feature is needed. I wish anyone sending me a dm could only send a one sentence on why they want to speak to me if they not already someone I converse with. Then have an accept or deny button. I get tons of people wanting me to invest in crypto.
