There are several popular channels that are being spoofed through direct messaging. The direct messages do not show the user name when you look at the profile, they only show the display name. This is happening more frequently. Very popular accounts with 1 million followers or hundreds of thousands of followers are having people report that they are receiving direct messages from them when the person running the account did not send a direct message.
Many times these fake direct messages ask the question “how long have you been following my channel?”
People can be very easily scammed if they can’t confirm who is actually sending them a message.
Agreed!! We just had someone trolled by someone duplicating her name and avi and went to multiple channels, spewing pure, unadulterated filth, as though it came from her. Spoofers can have a lot of fun.

I agree.... I was getting spoofed in long conversation. I realized this when they started trying to involve me in crypto! Figured it out instantly but still needs to be fixed! Please !!! 😁👍🙏🇺🇸

I've have to report numerous spoofed channels, putting the person's name in DM is a great idea to help stop this.

My channel has been spoofed twice in two days. This problem needs to be a top priority.

Yes please add this feature. Life is confusing enough, and it is impossible for us to differentiate without clarity.
