I really do wish that Telegram would reconsider putting up sponsored ads in channels. I've always kept it as my safe zone while the rest of the internet is saturated with ads.
If the ads are going to stay, it'd be nice to at least give channel admins the power to chose which ads show up on their channel. Or possibly even give channels the option to opt out of sponsored ads. Making the ads more distinct from regular posts would be nice too. Thank you

I'd also like to add that one alternative could involve a subscription plan (yearly or monthly) to avoid ads, and have control over what ads (if any) get shown on channels run by you. I do believe that the folks who run telegram deserve to get payed for their hard work, but having the option to opt out of ads would be awesome.
if Pavel leads ads only in telegram channels to cover server costs, this means we, users and advertisers, support telegrams. But the signal is not known by whom it is sponsored .... perhaps the US government .. Snowden cannot be credible.

Use Matrix. It is open source, including the servers, and unlike Signal and Telegram, one can deploy their own server and still talk with others. It has high system requirements but multiple people could pool for a homeserver and know where the resources, money and time goes.
Yeah, in Durov's official channel it was mentioned that it'd only be in channels but regardless I'd prefer to not have ads in telegram if another workaround can be had
I'm sick and tired of seeing ads everywhere I go. I mentioned in my original post that Telegram was an advertisement free haven for me.. but that isn't the case anymore. I'd much rather pay to use telegram with a premium membership rather than see ads. I'd like to be able to have that option since ads are shoved in my face all day everywhere else
