The relationshipt between the main official languages and its children could be greatly improved. Some key point would be the following ones:
Updating parent strings.
Right now, updating the parent language (for example, Catalan strings) won't make the children languages (Valencian, Balearic, etc.) to change (i.e. getting a blue dot). This way, we can't know if there's something that need changing, reviewing, or some kind of adaptation.
If children's string had a blue dot in this case, translator could check them and decide whether they need some fixing or the current translation is just right.
There are children very alike to their parents.
With the current way the Platform works, if a "children string" is not translated, the "parent string" will be showed in the app's inferface. This can be most desired by children languages: for example, those children that doesn't vary so much from their parent (mexican Spanish from Spain's Spanish, Valencia's Catalan from Catalonia's Catalan, Brasil's Portuguese form Portugal's Portuguese...).
Sadly, if translators consider that they prefer the parent string to be shown, they cannot leave the translation empty, for it will show a blue dot and language will never get a 100% completion (i.e. when the user wants to apply the language, the info message won't show a 100%).

That's why, in order to improve the relationship between parent and children languages, it would be very much appreciated if:
The children languages' strings get a blue dot mark when the corresponding parent languages' strings are updated, or modified in any way.
Translators could mark children language's strings as translated even if there's no translation given, so the parent string would apply, for example adding a button named "Apply parent language".
Actually there's a lot more to it. It would be nice to see a list of languages following your language, so you can moderate what is going on there. People are creating languages for their amusement, sometimes they end up with really nice stylized versions of translation, but sometimes translation dies and there's noone there to at least ping author, close the translation group, etc. Also would be nice to prevent this moderated intrusions by switching upstream language.
