I would like to suggest a new feature for Telegram — support for clickable Markdown links in profile descriptions, channel descriptions, and group bios.
At the moment, users can add text and regular URLs to bios and descriptions, but there is no ability to format a link as embedded clickable text. For example, it is currently impossible to create something like:
Open Website
Instead, only the full URL is displayed, which looks less clean and less convenient, especially for channel owners, brands, developers, communities, and public profiles.
This feature could:
— make descriptions cleaner and more compact;
— improve the visual appearance of profiles and channels;
— provide a better navigation experience for users;
— simplify sharing important links without long visible URLs;
— bring Telegram bios closer to modern platform standards that already support embedded hyperlinks.
Markdown link support could work similarly to Telegram’s existing text formatting system while maintaining the platform’s security limitations and moderation standards.
