With the AI Summaries feature introduced on January 3rd, posts can now be easily summarized by AI without any option to disable this behavior.
As a channel admin, I put significant effort into crafting my posts — carefully choosing each word to accurately convey my thoughts and emotions. Having AI automatically rewrite and summarize this content may undermine that effort and misrepresent my original message in ways I cannot control.
As a reader, I deeply care about the words and expressions of the authors I read and find the idea of using another intelligence (however artificial and advanced) to rephrase them unacceptable.
As a channel admin, the presence of a new button that can twist and cut my messages runs the risk of ruining them for the readers. As a reader, I find the presence of this button superfluous and distracting.
Proposal:
Please consider giving channel admins the ability to disable AI Summaries for their channels. This would allow those who find the feature useful to keep it, while letting others opt out. Ideally, make the feature opt-in for both readers and channel admins.
Steps to reproduce
Open any fairly long post published after the AI Summaries feature was introduced, that is, after January 3, 2026 in Android client version 12.3.0 or later.
There will be a button (see screenshot) to read an AI summary of the post instead.
There in no way to disable the button either as a reader or as a channel admin!
