My name is Evgeny Zagrebelko, and I am a blind iPhone user who relies on VoiceOver to interact with applications. I use Telegram daily, both for personal communication and for participating in important work-related chats. However, Telegram currently has significant accessibility issues that make it very difficult for blind users like me to use the app fully.
The main problems I encounter are:
– VoiceOver does not read all messages in a chat or channel. It only reads a few nearby messages, and navigation through the chat becomes almost impossible.
– Reactions on messages are not accessible: I cannot hear which reactions are set, nor can I add reactions myself.
– Commenting on messages and reading existing comments is not fully accessible.
– Many buttons in Telegram are not labeled for VoiceOver. For example, buttons like “Share” are not read aloud, and I have no way of knowing their purpose.
– In a channel’s profile, when opening sections like “Music” to see shared audio files, the files are not accessible. VoiceOver does not announce them, and I cannot navigate the list or play them.
Telegram has become one of the most important tools for communication worldwide, including for work teams and professional groups. For blind users, improving VoiceOver support is crucial to participate equally in these conversations and workflows.
I would be very grateful if you could give attention to these accessibility issues and consider improving support for VoiceOver in future updates.
The Telegram app on iPhone is not fully accessible for visually impaired users using VoiceOver. Some elements are not properly labeled, making navigation difficult. Please consider improving accessibility.
