It should look like you enter in a group and can see all messages by default, but if you want, you can enter on the deeper level and chat only within this part of the group limited by some topic for example.
Explanation:
People often join to a public conversation within some community and if their quantity grow to hundreds of people it is difficult to read 1000+ messages every day to find useful information. Please let me explain my suggestion with an example. With a recently built appartement house people start to discuss different topics - there are general topics and there are specific - repair, legal issues, mothers, sails, etc.
To help all the people to avoid topics they don't want to read, admins and moderator create a new groups with particualar topic. But when you have a lot of groups it is diffecult to remember where exactly you discussed some topic and difficult to switch between different groups just because of topic. It can be much easier just to have an ability to sort messages or group them within one main group with tags for example. It must be an easy way to assign tag (topic) and these tags must be limited by admins and act as sub-group. An ability to assign topic for other people is appreciated because some person can forget to assign topic but other people can adjust this for themselves (and that's why for the others too). For example, users of IMDB can contribute to the database new information and correct information from other users. So any allowed person can assign tag (first of all, admins). This should organize information in super-efficient way never existed before, I suppose this feature could be very powerful. Or main group can be opened and contains another groups inside which could be also opened or closed.
So the goal of this feature is to see the only information you need and don't read you don't concern. I see it like this - you see all the messages but you want to start talking about repair. You click repair subgroup and start messaging as you were in repair group of the main group. You don't see any other messages, only about repair. Another person can filter out repair topic in main group and do not read anything about repair. Someting like that) It also will be great to combine old narrow groups and join them to a big one because these groups already exist.
