Because of it's great features, telegram in being used as one of the most widely used social media apps to let freedom fighters and people under repressive regimes like Iran, Russia, China and so on to express their frustration and anger against brutal governing systems that are literally killing them because of what they have posted on social media.
Telegram groups offer an easy and accessible method to have many to many conversations among people with same interests and this includes people who are protesting against certain political systems.
The problem :
These repressive regimes knowing how powerful public speak-out can be, try to use telegram itself to identify online protestors. main method they use to do so is by leveraging unofficial Telegram clients as spying agents to spoof messages people send in these private groups.
They offer unofficial telegram clients as "better Telegrams that if you don't install, your account would be closed" or in some cases to circumvent the very censorship that they themselves has put in place.
Proposed solution:
It's great that Telegram allows developers compile and publish their own version of Telegram, but in order to prevent bad guys from having access to posts of people in private chats and groups. i recommend notifying other members that this giving user has given an unofficial telegram client access to it's chats and messages. but doing so group admins can decide whether to allow such users in or not based on matters discussed in the group. Also other members can help the unofficial user out if he/she has been tricked to install that client.
