This! This right here is the deal. Telegram is not adjusted for the new access right scheme. It is pnly allowing media-folders. No dev here, so not sure which folders this exaclty means. I don't get it. WhatsApp and other messagers got this working no sweat. What is the hold-up.
You're right, they just moved "Telegram" folder from root of sdcard to another folder that they have permission to write there but it's not visible to user. I think auto-save option only removes ".nomedia" file from "Telegram" folder so media will be visible in gallery when Telegram is in /sdcard/Telegram, but with scoped storage it's moved to /sdcard/Android/org.telegram.messanger so it won't be visible even without ".nomedia". instead they should save media in /sdcard/Pictures/Telegram when auto-save option is on.
I use SD card as media storage for telegram and since October 2021 I cannot save to gallery automatically, despite the option is on. Also, I used to have access to the folder where the media was saved so I didn't care. In the past days I was looking for a picture and found out that I lost access to this folder as well. Now all media is storage in SD card telegram folder cache with sizes arround 10-50 kb... This used to work so well and was a great advantage over whatsapp...
Still not working. Incredibly tedious. Was happening on my Pixel 4 android 10, then updated to 11, still not working
Still same Problem here. I'm on Android 11 Redmi Note 9s Telegram Version 8.5.1 When this will get fixed or at least given a proper workaround?
Is this really that hard of a workaround? You could literally just change the folder telegram saves to or allow the user to set that folder. It's been months now, c'mon Telegram. Other than this, you're my favorite messaging app
